Burnaby Road, 29th Nov 2008 Dunlop (22) Vs. Woodrush (3) On a cold, soggy day at Burnaby road, an understrength Dunlop team started brightly, recycling quick ball, against a bigger Woodrush pack. The greasy ball was well controlled and extended pressure and phases lead to a Woodrush infringement near to their line, the resulting penalty kicked by Weston, 3-0. From the restart, quick ball again allowed Dunlop the ascendancy and several forward phases allowed a Dunlop backs move to cut through the Woodrush midfield and allow fly-half Steve Adcock under the posts, converted by Weston, 10-0. The rest of the half continued in the same vein, with woodrush struggling to maintain possession and put pressure on the Dunlop line. With a greasy ball hard to control and an even contest in the scrum, the game slowed until a missed tackle in the centres and an offload allowed flanker Tom Byrne to coast in from 30 yards, 17-0. The half was ended by a try from Rich Craner after another missed tackle and some neat handling, 22-0. The second half, with the damp pitch and greasy ball became a very stop-start affair, with several Dunlop infringements and long spells of woodrush possession leading to a solitary penalty, in a game that hardly left the centre of the pitch, 22-3. |

I haven't done a lot of thinking lately ! So i thought that i had better catch up. Here we go then. The seconds are not having the best of luck at the moment both results and fixtur wise. They have been made redundant for the last two weeks due to opposition crying of. I will not say who........... okay then i will.....Southam 2's failed to turn out as did Cov Tech last week. What more can i say without swearing, i think perhaps Nuneaton old eds 3rds and broadbutts 3rds are probably the more reliable type fixtures for our 2's. I'm not sure Gez will agree after being filled in by Broadbutts bullies. Only kidding Gez. So hopefully the 2's will be having a run around versus the Guild on saturday. As for the numero uno's, since my last think we have maintained good league form climbing back to the top of the table after beating Worcester wanderers and Old Leamingtonians both at home and we managed to sneak an away win at Ledbury. However our EDF exploits came to a halt last weekend in a Forest(Leicester) although it looked more like an international safari park or game reserve the amount of Yarpies that were on show. I think the four Kiwis they had in their ranks felt outnumbered by the Caffers. Perhaps they should rename themselves Trination Forest !!! Can you taste the bitterness. Enough said for the time being..... maybe not..... Didn't we just play well against Old Lems 79-10......LOL They shall remember it..... but not for as long as we willl............Roll on Christmas Ho Ho Ho Ho. |

Dunlop u/16 . V . Earlsdon u/16 Burnaby road Sunday 23rd November After some terrific turnouts at training the U/16's finally got their season underway against one of the strongest sides in the town at this age group. A large crowd watched some enterprising rugby from both sides with Earlsdons midfield pairing working well together and giving their strong running centres plenty of opportunity to make ground. Earlsdon opened up a large half time lead at 24-0. However in the 2nd period Dunlop had some strong runs of their own and were unlucky not to get on the scoreboard. Earlsdon continued to build on their advantage and ran out 46-0 victors. We will learn from this defeat and coaches Steve Morris and Eddy massey have a selection problem ahead of them. Some fine performances from all of the lads left Dunlop holding their heads up and looking forward to their next test on Sunday 7th December at home to Leamington U/16's |
